V práci jsou stručně charakterizovány hlavní formy poruch příjmu potravy, mentální anorexie a mentální bulimie. Jsou uvedeny možné etiopatogenetické faktory, které by se mohly podílet na tomto onemocnění. Je zmíněna otázka komorbidity tohoto onemocnění, otázka somatických komplikací a terapeutické postupy.
