V oblasti dementologické teorie roste v posledních letech poznání exponenciální řadou, přičemž v oblasti praxe (zde máme na mysli péči v odborných léčebných ústavech) jsou diagnostické a léčebné možnosti často omezené. Je nutno se v rámci možností vypořádat se stále sofistikovanějšími diagnostickými schématy a v neposlední řadě zachytit některé jednotky, které jsou ze současného pohledu oboru alespoň částečně reverzibilní. Autoři v rámci této práce vyšetřili soubor 32 pacientů hospitalizovaných v psychiatrické léčebně pro různě vyjádřený organický deficit kognitivních funkcí. Použili standardní vyšetřovací metody, v ústavu běžně dostupné. Získaný materiál zpracovali, vyhodnotili statisticky a doplnili úryvky z nejzajímavějších kazuistik. Výsledků využívají k ilustraci problémů spojených se současnou ústavní dementologickou péčí.
