Pan A s diagnózou paranoidní schizofrenie se sekundárním nadužíváním alkoholu během 1,5 roku opakovaně ambulantně i ústavně psychiatricky léčen klasickými i atypickými antipsychotiky s nedostatečnou kontrolou schizofrenních příznaků a výskytem celé řady vedlejších nežádoucích účinků léků. Po nasazení nového antipsychotika quetiapinu došlo k odeznění psychotických příznaků, vymizení vedlejších nežádoucích účinků předchozích léků.

Tímto bylo možno pacienta znovu zapojit do běžného každodenního života.
