Nyní dvacetiletá žena X je od svých 17 let v psychiatrické péči s diagnózou depresivní epizoda. Je léčena převážně ambulantně, vážnost stavu si však vyžádala opakovanou hospitalizaci na psychiatrické klinice v celkové délce 5 měsíců. Choroba vážně narušovala běžný život X, bránila v komunikaci s rodinou. Z důvodu časté absence měla X i výrazné problémy při studiu střední školy, zvažovala studium předčasně ukončit. Nedařilo se jí navázat partnerský vztah, neměla přátele.

Po nasazení nového antidepresiva milnacipranu (Ixel) došlo k výraznému zlepšení stavu, zcela vymizela depresivní symptomatologie, nevyskytly se žádné nežádoucí účinky a klientka se zařadila do běžného života.
