Váhový přírůstek při léčbě olanzapinem, ale i dalšími antipsychotiky, se pro některé pacienty stává závažným problémem a s tím i souvisí jejich neochota dále pokračovat v užívání léku. Je příčinou sníženého sebevědomí, subdeprese a následně i zhoršené reintegrace do svého okolí. Nelze ani opomenout, že vzestup hmotnosti je rizikovým faktorem celé řady somatických onemocnění, jako jsou diabetes mellitus, hypertenze, ischemická choroba srdeční a další. V úvodu jsme si položili otázku, zda je léčba olanzapinem vždy doprovázena vzestupem hmotnosti. V této kazuistice prezentujeme, že compliance pacienta, správné další vedení a podpora v aktivitách může vést ke stabilizaci, ale i k návratu původní tělesné hmotnosti.
