Valproate in therapy of bipolar affective disorder

Valproate has been used like mood stabilizer in patients with bipolar affective disorder for long time. Valproate is demonstrable effective in therapy of manic, mixed episodes and in maintaince and prophylactic treatment and in rapid cycling bipolar disorder. Clinical use limitations of valproate are mostly dose depend side effects.
