Ethics and psychotherapy

Mgr.Jana Vyskočilová
Fakulta humanitních studií, Univerzita Karlova v Praze

Ethical theory and reflection can be applied to both the theory and practice of psychotherapy. Ethics and psychotherapy have a natural

affinity. The practice of psychotherapy deals with human problems, dilemmas and emotions that are related to both one’s own values and

other people’s values. Philosophical reflection in itself is not an adequate basis for psychotherapy ethics, but it does facilitate impartial

examination of the assumptions that are commonly made in psychotherapy, psychiatry and health care.
