Borderline personality disorder significantly influences the overall experience and behavior of an individual. Typical symptoms areaffective dysregulation, impulsivity and unstable concept of self and his/her surroundings. Depressive disorder is a frequent comorbidityin these individuals. Borderline personality disorder can have a negative impact on the treatment of depression, prolong thetime to remission and increase the risk of chronification of depression. In therapy it appears that the most effective is the combinationof psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. Therapeutic intervention is necessary to be focused on depression, mostly using pharmacotherapy. After reduction of depressive symptoms it is possible to work long-term on the personality traits using psychotherapy.
