Personality disorders are, comorbidity with other mental disorders included and somatic conditions, very frequent issue in psychiatric practicethat remains to pose a diagnostic challenge. The aim of the article is to present the basics of psychobiological theory of temperamentand character and the application of a seven-factor dimensional model of personality as a supportive diagnostic tool in psychiatric practicetogether with suggestions concerning the treatment of personality disorders and a patient’s well-being.
