Imaging rescripting is one of the basic techniques of schematherapy. The basic steps of this technique are: identification a specific painful or traumatic memory, recognising the unmet needs associated with the situation, and meeting them through a "new story" that the patient imagines. During the individual or group therapy, the patient usually undergoes the rescripting sessions repeatedly and with different memories. That gradually increases patient´s introspection, self-control, and self-care. Various obstacles may arise during the implementation of this technique. The text deals with common factors on the part of the therapist and the patient and offers potential solutions to overcome them.

Keywords: imagery rescripting, cognitive behavioural therapy, schematherapy, experiential techniques.
