Sexuální život tvoří významnou součást života celé populace včetně psychiatrických pacientů. Protože se jedná o historicky i společensky tabuizované téma, není dosud dostatek důkazů a studií pro vymezení přesného působení jednotlivých antipsychotik na sexuální funkce. V práci je podán přehled působení jednotlivých receptorových systémů na sexuální funkce člověka a vlastní zkušenosti s používanými antipsychotiky. Sexuální dysfunkce vyvolané konvenčními neuroleptiky jsou časté. Možnosti korekce jsou dosud velice omezené.
