Somatické ochorenia u pacientov trpiacich na schizofréniu sa vyskytujú často, ale nebývajú v ambulanciách prvého kontaktu zavčasu diagnostikované. Správné a skoré diagnostikovanie somatických ochorení komplikujú jednak samotné faktory schizofrenického ochorenia, ktoré vedú k zhoršeniu spolupráce s pacientom, a jednak časový faktor, ktorý komplikuje prácu lekárov prvého kontaktu. V našom sledovaní sme zistili, že viac ako polovica pacientov liečených pre schizofréniu trpí na somatické ochorenie a častý je výskyt viacerých somatických ochoreni u jedného pacienta súčasne. Prácou sme chceli upozornit na niektoré ochorenia, na ktoré je treba v ambulanciach prvého kontaktu myslieť.
