Ve svém článku se pokusím shrnout možnosti, které nabízejí psychiatrii nové formy komunikace mezi lidmi. Internet se pomalu stává součástí běžného života a mnoho lidí ho využívá k získání informací, ke kterým by se dostávali jen velmi obtížně. Společně s rozvojem internteu je možné pozorovat i vznik nového podoboru psychiatrie, který se zatím nazývá e-psychiatrie. I když zcela jistě nedokáže nahradit klasickou formu péče o psychiatrické pacienty, své pole působnosti si nachází u specifických poruch a také jako forma zdroje informací pro příbuzné a přátele pacientů. Dobré zkušenosti máme i na psychiatrickém oddělení Nemocnice České Budějovice, kde tato forma pomoci funguje od roku 1998.
