V důsledku neustále se zvyšujícího počtu starých lidí v populaci, vzrůstá též počet nemocných s degenerativními chorobami mozku. Tato onemocnění jsou často provázena poruchami spánku. Článek se zabývá problematikou spánku u nejčastějších onemocnění způsobujících demenci (Alzheimerova choroba, multi-infarktová demence a demence s Lewyho tělísky), klinickými příznaky a možnou léčbou. V doporučené terapii je kladen důraz na nefarmakologický přístup, který spočívá v důsledném dodržování 24hodinového režimu a spánkové hygieny.

Sleeping Disorders in Patients suffering from Dementia

Because of the increasing number of old-aged people in our population, the number of patients suffering from degenerative brain disorders is also increasing. Such a disorder is often accompanied by a sleeping disorder. This article deals with the problem of sleeping, which is often due to due dementia (Alzheimer-s disease, multiinfarct dementia and dementia of Lewy corpuscles) , with clinical syndromes and treatment possibilities. The recomended treatment is a nonpharmacological approach: a consistent 24-hour regime and a sleeping hygiene.
