Personality disorder has a significant effect on internal experience and behavior of an individual. Its presence may increase the risk of suicidal

behavior, because this disorder is associated with impaired ability to cope with stressful situations. Specific events may not only induce

suicidal thoughts, however can also lead to suicidal attempt in individuals with personality disorder. Triggers of suicidality may be specific

depending on the particular type of personality disorder. The risk of suicide is increased especially in antisocial, histrionic, borderline and

narcissistic personality disorder. Comorbid psychiatric disorder, particularly depression, may increase the probability of suicidal behavior.
