Iatrogenic, drug -induced depressions

Pharmacologically induced depressions represent complications of patients’ health and worsen their prognoses. A big range of drugs hasa depressogenic potential: antiparkinsonian drugs (L-dopa, amantadine), anticonvulsants (topiramate, phenobarbital), disease-modifying drugsused for multiple sclerosis (interferon-α, glatiramer acetate), drugs used in oncology (interleukins, procarbazine, vincristine), antihypertensivedrugs (methyldopa), corticoids, benzodiazepines, opioid analgesics (pethidine), antibiotics (ciprofloxacin), antiviral drugs etc. This review summarizesthe most common drug-induced depressions and possibilities of their solutions.

The experimental use of the Olomouc test of figural fluency on people with Parkinson´s disease

This study refers to the experimental application of the Olomouc Figural Fluency Test (OFFT), used mostly for executive functions (EF) assessment, inpatients with Parkinson disease. OFFT was administered as a part of a battery of tests to a group of 30 patients. There were included individuals withidiopathic Parkinson disease G20 (n = 17) and with the diagnosis of secondary Parkinsonism G21 (n = 13) in the group. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Addiction to Alcohol – Experience from Practice

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is an effective psychotherapeutic approach for clients addicted to alcohol. CBT focuses on personal historyand furthers client´s problems (e.g. lack of assertiveness skills, dual diagnosis). CBT maps so called vicious circle started by situation-conditionedantecedents. This circle is created by the following components: cravings, thoughts, body reactions and visible behaviors. These components influence each other and the behavior has consequences that continues a visious circle. Many therapeutic methods and strategies can be usedfor change of each component.
